Byakko from Sakai Takayuki made by Meister Togashi Kenji used Yasuki white-1 steel, the highest quality Yasuki steel, and forged by using traditional method called “Hongasumi”, and finally sharpend; the octagonal handle is made of ebony wood with Buffalo horn rings at both ends. “Hongasumi” is a way of forging made from two materials by joining a piece of soft iron (Jigane) with Yasuki white-1 steel; the carbon steel forms the blade’s edge and the soft iron forms the body and spine of the blade.
